Originally erected in the 19th century on the ruins of a “fondouk”, an ancient hostel for travelling traders, the “sleeping beauty”, as it was called by the locals, was at one time the sumptuous residence of Caid Mbark Saidi. In 2004, emerging from a massive 3-year reconstruction and renovation project, the property opened its doors to the world with a new vocation as a luxury hotel.
